Pattern Review: Love Me Knot Shorts from GYCT

Chelsea from Get Your Crap Together is back with another adorable pattern that is perfect to add to your summer sewing schedule.

The details:
Available in size 6mo to 12 years.
Optional pockets with multiple placement options.
Bias bound keyhole detail.

After going through two trials with testing, I think the fit of this pattern came out amazing.  The final ones are a little shorter than the one here on Inara, which is actually perfect - you can see some of the new length in the pattern listing and it is cute, without being too short.

I was excited to make these right away, because I knew what I wanted them to go with.... My Seaside Top from GYCT.

The first thing that I love about these shorts is actually the darts in the back...

It makes them fit her tush so nicely once the elastic is in.  They bubble perfectly with the addition of the darts.  And the cute keyhole on the leg is such a sweet detail that was so much fun to add just a *pop* of color on...

The flat front and elastic back is really a look I am loving lately, and I think that it gives such a nice silhouette to the the shorts.  If you're worried about keeping your flat front flat, I would suggest adding in a piece of lightweight fusible interfacing to just the front of the waistband.  If your shorts get lots of wear (which I'm assuming that they will!) then this will help that front waistband keep its shape with lots of wash and wear.

If you're looking for a fast to sew (an hour-ish... more if you make your own bias tape!) that is cute and summery to welcome in the warm weather - this is it!!

Sadly, our pictures are all indoors as the nice, warm sunny weather seems to be hit-or-miss this time of year in the good ole Pacific North West (sparkling vampires are safe).

Either way, she's loving the shorts and I can't wait until she can rock them outside in the sun!

The pattern is available here  AND if you haven't checked out the GYCT blog you may want to sign up to follow her newsletter today! ;)

  2. ps. linked back to this review from mine because of your (very smart) suggestion about keeping that adorable front waistband flat! :)

  3. Um, excellent tip on the waistband and the interfacing. So smart. I use to live on the coast too, gotta love those rainy day! At least rain doesn't need to be shoveled. It was awesome being in another tester group with you!
